Manchester United suffered a second defeat in the mini-preparations in Spain.
After Cadiz (2:4), United’s combined team was also defeated by Betis (0:1), but Eric ten Haag certainly did what he wanted.
With the club down to 15 players at the World Cup in Qatar, the Dutchman took the rest of the squad, bolstered by academy players, for a short training session in the south of Spain.
After the match with Betis, he was asked if the club would bring a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo in January.
Island media reports that the Old Trafford club have thrown all their cards in the bid to land Dutchman Cody Gakpo, adding that Benfica player and Portugal international Gonzalo Ramos is also on the radar.
“We are doing everything in our power. We are exploring every possibility and we will do everything to sign those players if the opportunity arises,” Ten Haag said without specifying who the targets were.
Both players had sparkling games in Qatar.
“I can’t comment on specific players, I never will. “The players are under contract and I respect that, but rest assured we are doing everything we can to bring in the right players,” said the Manchester United manager.
