The Spaniards beat Costa Rica 7:0 in the first round, then played 1:1 with Germany, and in the third they were defeated by Japan, probably on purpose to avoid Croatia and then Brazil in the quarterfinals.

But for Luis Enrique’s men, the fight was in vain, because Spain was eliminated by Morocco on penalties last night in the round of 16 and had to go home early.

The disappointed internationals boarded the plane and headed home, but only half the players were present on the plane provided by the Spanish Football Association.

According to daily Marka, those who did not return home with the group either preferred to travel separately, with their families or stayed in the Bay Area to spend their annual vacation.

Of them, 14 did not travel from Qatar on the plane with the rest of the national team, and the list includes: Robert Sanchez, Dani Carvajal, Cesar Azpilicueta, Eric Garcia, Hugo Gulamont, Aymeric Laporte, Jordi Alba, Jose Gaya, Rodri, Carlos Soler, Marcos Llorente, Koke, Alvaro Morata and Marco Asensio.
