English referee Anthony Taylor awarded a penalty to Croatia against Belgium, but reversed his decision after accepting a suggestion from the VAR room to see for himself whether the penalty foul was preceded by an offside position.

The shoulder of the Croatian Lovren is millimeters ahead of the shoulder of the Belgian, and because of that alone, the decision was made that he was offside, so there was no penalty to be kicked by Luka Modric and it could have been historic (it could have been the first penalty goal of the World Cup which the scorer gave to a club colleague).
