French defender Samuel Umtiti will finally leave Barcelona this summer.
Barcelona has been persistently trying to sell Umtiti for several transfer periods, but the Frenchman has persistently refused to leave Camp Nou where he has a very rich contract.
At the beginning of the year, Umtiti extended his cooperation until the summer of 2026, but agreed to a significantly lower salary and now there is no reason not to leave Barcelona already this summer.
The Frenchman was linked with several clubs, but the transfer did not happen as many were concerned about his physical condition and the fact that he has major problems with knee injuries.
However, it looks like Barcelona will finally get rid of Umtiti for at least a year as he is on the verge of leaving on loan.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio announced today that Umtiti will almost certainly continue his career in Serie A and in the jersey of Lecce, who managed to return to the company of the strongest last season.
Lecce and Barcelona are already in negotiations and reportedly very close to an agreement. Umtiti will arrive at Lecce on loan until the end of the season, with the Italian club having the option to buy out his contract next summer.
