After much drama, the Uruguayan national football team has been eliminated from the World Cup in Qatar. A 2-0 win over Ghana didn’t help the Uruguayans as South Korea beat Portugal 2-1 and went into the knockout stages of the competition on goal difference.
Uruguay played a great game against Ghana. They celebrated with 2:0, but in the end it did not help them to reach the passage among the 16 best world selections.
This selection lacked one goal for qualification. But after he didn’t achieve it, the referees of this match indicated them as the culprits.
After the final whistle, the Uruguayan players headed towards referee Daniel Siebert and his assistants. They demanded explanations and were very fierce.
Edinson Cavani and Jose Gimenez were the loudest. They received yellow cards for protesting and eventually Diego Godin tried to grab Siebert’s arm.
In the end it failed. The referees were escorted off the pitch by security and the Uruguayans were left to mourn.
