Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has praised interim manager Michael Carrick and his teammates after the Red Devils’ dramatic 3-2 win over Liverpool, a result that secured Champions League qualification.
Mainoo, who scored the decisive winning goal, highlighted the huge change the team has undergone under Carrick.
“To come back in this way is a credit to the players and the coach. Now we are only looking forward and we still have to finish the season strong. We want to continue winning and winning,” he said.
He also spoke about the difficult personal period, indicating that being away from the field has not been easy, but he has not given up.
“It’s difficult when you don’t play football, but I kept working hard. Michael came and gave us all confidence again, not just me. We want to fight for it and we want to die for it on the pitch,” declared Mainoo.
Carrick is increasingly being credited with restoring confidence and stability to Manchester United in recent weeks.
