Mo Salah surprises with the statement about Jose Mourinho

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has spoken about his time at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho, stressing that he continues to have great respect for the Portuguese coach, despite his time at Stamford Bridge not going as he had hoped.

Salah made his Premier League debut under Mourinho in 2014, but failed to secure regular minutes, making just 13 league appearances, before leaving for Italian football.

Initially, the Egyptian joined Fiorentina on loan, then revived his career at Roma, until he earned a big transfer to Liverpool in 2017 – where he became one of the greatest strikers in Premier League history.

Recalling his departure from Chelsea, Salah indicated that his relationship with Mourinho today is good and that he has no negative feelings towards him.

“I remember having a conversation with Jose and he’s a wonderful man. I love him. One of the best coaches I’ve had in my life and our relationship is good now. I don’t want people to think I hate him or anything like that.”

“No, I love him. He told me he wants me to stay, or go on loan somewhere and come back, but stay in the UK because he wants me. I said no, because I saw myself away now.

“There was a lot of pressure on me. I wanted to go to Italy. I wanted to play there and I didn’t want to go on loan and go back to a club,” the Egyptian striker added.

Meanwhile, Salah has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool in the summer.
