Neymar has spoken of the emotional toll of his return to the international scene, admitting he was moved to tears after being named in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. The Santos star endured a difficult journey after a long-term injury to secure a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

After his name was confirmed in Ancelotti’s final World Cup squad, Neymar appeared on Santos TV to express the depth of his feelings.

Santos’ number 10, who spent a long period on the sidelines due to a serious injury suffered in October 2023, revealed that the recall announcement brought him a burst of relief and gratitude for all the effort put into his recovery.

“I cried for hours, it wasn’t easy to get here. After my name was announced, you realize that it was worth overcoming everything, enduring all the effort,” said the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star.

The footballer believes that the support he received at the “Rei Pele” training center was crucial to his dream of playing for the Brazilian national team again, considering the club as his safe place during the most difficult months of his career.

“Let me tell you that for me, as I’ve always told you when I came back, I feel at home here. It’s something that’s hard to explain.”

“I want to thank everyone. My invitation was not just for me, it was for everyone who is part of the process, for everyone who was with me on the field, off the field, who took care of security, for our bodies, for our food.”

“Thank you for your support, for always believing in me. I’m here to thank you for your support throughout my career.”

“We are all together in this Brazil that is heading towards its sixth title,” he concluded.
