Real Madrid presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme has stated that he has two big transfers ready for this summer if he wins the elections against Florentino Perez.
Los Blancos are set to hold presidential elections for the first time in 20 years, with Riquelme officially entering the race against the incumbent.
Riquelme presented the bank guarantee of 187 million euros on Saturday, which gave him the right to run.
The elections are set to be held on June 7, and he has immediately launched the campaign with an ambitious statement.
“As we said during the pre-campaign, we would only run if we had an extremely powerful and inspiring project for Madridistas… and we have it. We will present the biggest project for members in the 120 years of the club’s history – the most transformative project in the history of Real Madrid,” declared Riquelme.
He did not spare criticism of Perez’s recent management, especially for the renovation of the ‘Santiago Bernabeu Stadium’, which has significantly exceeded the initial budget.
“The seats are more cramped, smaller – you have to leave 10 minutes before halftime just to buy a drink or food… Is this the renovation after 1.7 billion euros?” he quipped.

Who is Enrique Riquelme, the surprise name entering the running for president of Real Madrid?
In an interview with ABC , quoted by Cadena Cope , Riquelme publicly challenged Perez to a televised debate.
Another hot spot is Perez’s idea to sell a percentage of the club and turn members into shareholders, with the justification of “protecting” them as owners.
“Let him bring his proposal for privatization and I will publicly debate it – why we support it or why not. Then the members will decide for themselves,” Riquelme said, accusing Perez of “always putting the members last.”
He also criticized the club’s expenses, citing the fact that the club’s official television, RMTV , costs around 45 million euros per year, while according to him the club loses around 80 million euros per season not including the sale of assets.
Regarding the sports project, Riquelme made big promises to the Madrid fans.
“We have signed two international stars. Two international superstars will play for Real Madrid,” he declared, adding that their names could be revealed in the coming weeks.

He described Jurgen Klopp as “a fantastic coach”, while calling the sacking of Xabi Alonso a big mistake.
According to reports from RadioMarca , Klopp is Riquelme’s main target for the bench, although the most realistic alternative remains club legend Raul Gonzalez, who has been without a team since leaving Castilla in 2025.
