Former United captain Rio Ferdinand believes United’s standard defense duo of Varane and Martinez have made the Red Devils look different than before.
Although United are not playing perfectly, it is obvious that their game is far improved and more fluid in attack, and Ten Haag is responsible for that.
It is Ferdinand who believes that the constant good games of the mentioned duo made United look more stable in defense.
“It seems to me that Harry Maguire will no longer be in play for a place in the team, it could be Victor Lindelof, who will replace the injured Varane. Lindelof is decent, I think he will take Varane’s place and be good.”
“It is expected that Varane will be out of action for 3-4 weeks, which means that he will play for United only after the WC. Martinez has been great this season but Varane has given us something different, he has speed, stamina and experience, I think this is a big loss for the club. The club needs a healthy Varane and Martinez, look at them, they have made the team different this season, it’s simple,” said Ferdinand.
