Winger Raphinha has revealed that Hansi Flick played a crucial role in turning his career around at Barcelona, at a time when he was very close to leaving the club.
The winger admitted he had already made the decision to leave, amid interest from Arsenal and Saudi clubs, before Flick intervened.
“I was leaving Barcelona and he was the one who believed in me.”
Under Flick, Raphinha has been used in a more flexible role in attack, highlighting his maximum potential and turning him into one of the team’s most important players.
“I felt very welcomed by him; he was the person who transformed my career. The most important thing is for the coach to show the confidence he has in his players.”
In the 2024-25 season, he recorded 34 goals and 26 assists in all competitions. Barcelona won La Liga and the Copa del Rey, while coming within seconds of reaching the Champions League final.
This season, Barcelona is very close to the La Liga trophy, nine points ahead of Real, while they have been eliminated from the other two competitions, the Champions League and the King’s Cup.
