Joao Cancelo has given Barcelona the green light to continue beyond this season, with the club already pushing for his permanent transfer.
According to “Diario AS”, for Cancelo it is “yes or yes” to stay at Barcelona.
The full-back, currently on loan from Al-Hilal, is fully committed to staying and has no intention of returning to Saudi Arabia.
Barcelona’s sporting directors and coach Hansi Flick see Cancelo as a key piece for next season, especially due to his ability to play on both sides of the defense.
The 31-year-old has already played 16 games this season, contributing one goal and three assists, while earning the trust of the technical staff.
Financially, the deal remains complicated. Cancelo has a contract until 2027, but is reportedly willing to take a pay cut to facilitate the transfer.
Barcelona hope to negotiate a price lower than 15 million euros, while the player’s desire to stay is a major advantage for the club.
For now, the club will wait for the end of the La Liga title race before making any final decisions, but Cancelo’s stance is already clear.
