Luka Modric has spoken about his future at Milan as his current contract draws to a close. Despite turning 40, the Croatian icon remains an important figure for Massimiliano Allegri and is determined to end his time at San Siro with a trophy.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, although he has the option to activate a one-year extension, speculation about Modric’s next move has increased.
Having joined Milan as a free agent in the summer of 2025, following the end of an extraordinary career at Real Madrid, the Croatian continues to remain a competitive force.
While many players at this age would consider retirement, he is keeping his options open for both a renewal and a possible move elsewhere.
Asked by Sportmediaset about his plans for next season, Modric was professional, but also hinted at his affection for the club.
“What I can say is that I am very happy in Milan, but the most important thing now is the match against Cagliari on Sunday and qualifying for the Champions League.”

“As for the rest, we’ll see. I have a good relationship with the club, the management and the coach,” he explained.
“When I chose Milan, it was to help and try to win. This year that didn’t happen, but it’s clear that I would like to win a trophy with Milan. I repeat: now I’m only thinking about Sunday’s match,” the Croatian concluded.
