Manchester City are standing firm on their valuation of €100million (£84m) for Bernardo Silva in an attempt to stave off Barcelona’s interest in the midfielder.

Silva has been linked with a move from the Etihad to the Camp Nou for some time now, and while the player is very happy to stay at City, neither he nor manager Pep Guardiola have ruled out the possibility of a transfer.

At the start of the summer, the club named their price for the Portugal international and given how valuable the 28-year-old is to Guardiola’s plans, they are unwilling to budge on that figure.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona are yet to submit an official bid for Silva but City officials are bracing themselves for one at some point in the near future.

He has three years left on his contract and while City may entertain selling him for the right price, it is unlikely to happen this summer given they will only have just over two weeks to find a replacement before the transfer window shuts

Silva joined City from Monaco in 2017 for £45m, and has gone onto achieve much success in Manchester since, winning four Premier League titles, the FA Cup and four League Cups.

He has so far scored 48 goals and made 50 assists in 253 games across all competitions for the Citizens, was voted Manchester City Player of the Year for 2018/19, and named in the PFA Team of the Year twice.

The outcome of the transfer saga could well have a knock-on effect on the future of Frenkie de Jong, with some believing that Barcelona’s interest in Silva is because they view him as an ideal replacement for the Dutchman.
