French striker Kylian Mbappe spoke to the Spanish edition of GQ magazine about his journey in football, his current situation at Real Madrid and the challenges that high-level football brings.
Mbappe reflected on his sporting situation, but also on less obvious aspects such as mental strength, leadership and the impact of an overcrowded calendar on players.
When asked what it means to him to be a Real Madrid player, Mbappe was direct.
“For me, it’s like a gift from God. To have the opportunity to live with my passion, to play the best matches, to be at the best club in the world,” Mbappe initially said.
“I’m always incredibly grateful to be on the field, to wake up every morning to do what makes me happy.”
He particularly praised the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and Spain.
“I like being on the pitch and feeling like I’m playing on the best pitch in the world, in a country that, in terms of football, is one of the best in the world,” the Frenchman concluded.
