UEFA has made an official decision on the suspension issue involving Gianluca Prestianni, following suspected unsporting conduct during the Champions League round of 16 match between Benfica and Real Madrid.
The 20-year-old Argentine winger has been banned for six matches in UEFA competitions for discriminatory abuse, including homophobic remarks, directed at Vinicius Junior during the match.
Despite Prestianni denying racist comments towards the Brazilian striker, he will miss at least two European matches, having already served one match of his suspension.
Three of the six games remain suspended and could be lifted if the player avoids any further disciplinary violations over the next two years.
The punishment reportedly comes from UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body, following remarks from Vinicius Junior.
