Recent media reports suggest that Milan do not plan to activate their purchase option for centre-forward Niclas Fullkrug, meaning the German international is expected to return to West Ham at the end of the season.
Fullkrug joined the “reds” at the start of the January transfer window on loan with an option to buy, which is believed to be around 5 million euros.
At that time, Milan was without a “real” central striker, as Santiago Gimenez was injured, while coach Massimiliano Allegri often improvised in the offensive phase with a combination of players such as Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic or Christopher Nkunku.
Since joining on January 2, Fullkrug has made 16 appearances for Milan, but has only started three times. He scored his only goal for the Reds on January 18, in a 1-0 win at San Siro over Lecce in Serie A.
According to recent information, his performances have not been enough to convince Milan to pay the amount requested to make the transfer permanent in the summer.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Fullkrug will return to West Ham at the end of the 2025/2026 season and that the English club is expected to seek another loan for him in the summer transfer window.
