Xabi Alonso Wants Him – Chelsea Send First Offer for Barcelona’s Star

News

Chelsea have expressed interest in signing Dani Olmo during the summer transfer window, at the request of new manager Xabi Alonso, who sees the Spaniard as an ideal addition to the attacking department ahead of next season in the Premier League. The Blues are said to be preparing a bid of €70m.

The project led by the Basque coach, who is expected to officially take charge of the team at Stamford Bridge, aims to return Chelsea to the elite of English football through high-profile transfers.

The London club’s leaders are determined to provide the new coach with all the necessary tools to return the team to competition for the most important trophies.

One of Alonso’s main targets for the attacking department is Dani Olmo, who he considers to be the key piece to increasing creativity and quality in the midfield area.

Chelsea target a centre-back and a striker as first signings in the Xabi Alonso era

The Spanish coach wants to build a spectacular attacking unit, where Olmo would be combined with the promising talent of Estevao, the qualities of Cole Palmer and the speed of Joao Pedro.

The 28-year-old’s vision of the game, creative ability and tactical intelligence have convinced Chelsea’s technical staff, who are looking for more dynamism and efficiency in the attacking phase.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s stance could make it easier for Chelsea to complete the transfer. The Catalan leaders consider Olmo as one of the players who could be sold in the summer to provide additional income.

Although he has a contract until the summer of 2030, his inconsistent performances over the last season have raised questions at Camp Nou.

Olmo finished the season with eight goals and ten assists in 49 official appearances, but sporting director Deco and the club’s board are believed to be willing to listen to offers for his departure.

Barcelona intend to use the potential €70 million from the sale of Olmo to fund other transfers that will give coach Hansi Flick more tactical options for next season.
