Jose Mourinho is close to a sensational return to Real Madrid, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano.
According to this information, Mourinho currently has a contract with Benfica valid until the summer of 2027, which contains a release clause in the event of a transfer to the Bernabeu.
Portuguese newspaper Record reports that Real Madrid will have to pay 7 million euros to secure the services of the Portuguese coach.
The clause is only valid for a short period of time – within 10 days after the last match of the season, a deadline that, according to reports, coincides with the plan to finalize the deal on May 23.
Meanwhile, Benfica have already begun the search for Mourinho’s successor, with Marco Silva, currently at Fulham, reportedly the leading candidate to take charge of the team.
Fabrizio Romano reported this morning that the agreement has already been reached and only the official announcement of Mourinho as the new coach of Real Madrid is awaited.
